Noah And The Ark-Part 2

On the seventeenth day of the second month it began to rain. The sky got very dark, thunder roared and lightening flashed. It rained constantly for forty days and forty nights.

The water rose higher and higher until it covered the highest mountain. The whole earth was covered in water. Everyone and everything that lived on the earth died. Only those in the ark were saved.

Finally the rain stopped and the water remained on the earth for one hundred and fifty days.

God did not forget Noah and his family and the animals in the ark. He caused a mighty gust of wind to pass over the earth and the water began going down. Noah and his family waited in the ark for forty days before Noah sent out a dove.

The dove came back because it could not find anywhere to land. Noah waited seven days then sent the dove out again. This time the dove came back with an olive branch in its beak. Noah was very happy because he knew the water was going down and soon he and his family and the animals would be able to get out of the ark.

Noah sent the dove out a third time. This time it did not come back. It had found a place to live on the earth. God told Noah”Come out of the ark with your family and all the animals.” They all came out of the ark. They had spent one year and ten days in the ark.

Noah gave thanks to God for keeping them safe. God was very pleased with Noah. He made a covenant with Noah and promised that He would never destroy everything with a flood again. God put a magnificent rainbow across the sky.

God said “I set my rainbow in the sky. It is the sign of My covenant with you and all living creatures. The waters will never again flood and destroy everything.”

So when we see the beautiful rainbow in the sky, we should remember that it is the sign of God's promise to the world.
